Martin Wallace

Martin began directing music videos for bands such as Pulp, Tindersticks, Aphex Twin and Biffy Clyro. As a director of factual television, he is an International Emmy and Royal Television Society North West award winner and BAFTA nominee. His feature debut as a writer-director, Small Creatures, was nominated for the Michael Powell Award for Best British Feature and Best Performance 2012. In 2013 he directed The Big Melt, which opened Sheffield Doc Fest, complete with live music by 52 musicians. In 2014 it was broadcast in the BBC4 flagship documentary strand, Storyville. In 1999, he produced and directed, Journeys Into The Outside with Jarvis Cocker for Channel4, travelling the globe to investigate extraordinary places built by otherwise ordinary people. Martin served as a board member until February 2024 and is currently producing a feature-length documentary about Ron Gittins.
