PROGRESS REPORT FROM RON’S PLACE

We’re glad to report that the building containing Ron’s ground floor flat is now covered in scaffolding so that essential repairs to the roof and walls can be undertaken. This comes as a huge relief as we head into winter. 

Things have felt frustratingly slow since the heady excitement (and exhaustion!) of campaigning and subsequent building purchase, and we’re still waiting to find out if our application to Historic England will result in Ron’s Place being Listed as this will obviously impact our plans. 

Far from slacking, however, WACCLT Board members and team have been beavering away behind the scenes attending to the obligations associated with being a newly registered charity and the owners of a rather special building in urgent need of TLC. 

We’ve employed the services of specialist consultants to get us on the right track as we move forward. These include a heritage architect who is addressing building-related issues and exploring options for Ron’s Place, the three upstairs flats and garden; conservation experts to advise on preserving Ron’s visionary art environment; an organisational structure and policy guru, and arts strategy experts to put together a fundraising plan for community engagement projects and capital funding.

So things are moving forward and we have some great events in the pipeline which we’ll tell you about very soon.
