Join us for a Ron’s Place-inspired ‘stitching the past’ workshop

Wirral-based artist Alison Bailey Smith will be at MAKE Hamilton this week running FREE fun and creative up-cycling workshops inspired by Ron Gittins.

Ron used a technique called appliqué to add pieces of fabric to clothing, creating bold designs, or tacking up corners of coats to make military-style uniforms.

Bring your old clothes or fabrics and learn how to transform them into something new and exciting. Whether you’re a seasoned crafter or just starting out, this event is perfect for anyone looking to get creative in their clothing without making a negative impact on the environment.

Alison will provide repurposed threads, needles, scissors, fabric and ribbon. There will also be fabric available if you’re unable to bring your own.

The sessions are limited to 12 participants to allow time for each person. If you may need extra support, please bring your supporter with you. The sessions have been booking up quickly but, at the time of writing, there are still spaces left on Wednesday and Thursday. Click here to book.

Alison is a jeweller and eco artist that works with recycled materials to making new creations from waste. She won Scottish Fashion Designer of the Year many years ago and has been supportive of Ron’ Place from 2020.
